Sparrow's Lair

Just my random musing on life, being a sparrow at various places in the world and all things development related

Rain falls like tears from Heaven

A difficult week this one. Someone quite close to me passed away on Thursday - leaving a few issues unresolved for me.

Not likely to be any updates this week.

The chicken mayonnaise looms...

Day 4 of the fast and it's not getting any easier! I've been craving chicken mayonnaise for some strange, incomprehensible reason and one of the guys in the office just ordered a chicken mayonnaise sandwich! Life is cruel sometimes!

As expected - no writing took place last night - hopefully the muse will visit tonight.

As a part of the project that I'm currently working on - one of the other developers has to populate a DataSet and send it through to me. I spent the whole night dreaming of that wretched DataSet!!

Sometimes the mind just has no clue.

Hopefully I will have some better news tomorrow on the writing front.

How boring

Nothing of interest to report today at all! All the grand plans for writing came to naught last night due to extreme tiredness and are not likely to be fulfilled tonight either because of choir practice!

On the positive side - managed to get that COM error sorted - turns out it was the Windows Firewall.

Also saw one of my articles mentioned on another gaming site - without too much negativity - so maybe (just MAYBE) I might get my column back again.

Why won't it rain? I hate too much sun.

Mental note: When on a week long fast - do not sit next to the person eating chocolate peanuts or you may be tempted to bash him over the head, steal his peanuts and stuff them into your mouth while laughing hysterically.

A task given and accepted

Well I've made a descision to try to submit something to Chaosium's Arkham Tales collection. And maybe, just maybe, get a supplemental book published by them. That would be a real feather in the old cap! I've also decided to sumit two stories to fanfiction.net - just to get my name in lights - as it were.

Anyone out there who dabbles in writing part time or professionally will know how difficult it is to actually sit down and start writing. Millions of excuses tend to crop up - such as doing the washing (a task I usually avoid like the plague), tidying the room or *gasp* doing the ironing! And once you finally sit down at the computer - the lure of Googling anything and everything under the sun becomes almost irresistable. So anyone out there reading this - wish me luck!

On the development side - my laptop has developed a seriously annoying bug that requires me to reinstall the .NET framework every time I reboot. Am going to have to do some investigation before I decide to throw it out the window.

Pain in the...

Yes it's Monday again. Amazing how they just roll around with alarming frequency.

Seem to have done something to damage my back this morning so I am walking like a badly designed robot and no that is not the way I walk naturally!

One of the really nice jewellery shops across the road got broken into last night - it was a strange experiece to walk past all the broken glass with police tape around it. Most people seem to walk past oblivious.

Watched Willow again this weekend - really an excellent movie! I wish they would make more movies like that. The trend today seems to be badly made horrors...

And to all who don't know - Fire & Ice has been released on DVD! I pre-ordered it so I am waiting for it to come in stock.

Update:
Back pain has now become so excruciating that walking across the room caused what appeared to be a minor outbreak in hysterical laughter from all the other people. I claim no responsibility for ruptured spleens. And joy of joys - the chair that I'm sitting in is broken which means that I need to sit upright like one of those Victorian ladies with a corset. Oh well at least it is good for my posture...

Greetings, salutations and the like

Well, well well the first post of the blog! It's a Friday morning and it's been a busy week. Despite a lot of stress and turmoil in the past month, life is still beautiful and I still love it. I will elaborate more a bit later - once I've had a chance to let the coffee take effect and settle into the work day.

I'm going to be starting on a set of short stories, as well as finish my book so I'll be posting regular updates on that as well. No details as yet! Still to early on and I don't want anyone to steal my ideas ;)

The sun is shining, the birds are singing (and yes some of them are sparrows!) and it looks like it will be a great day.
